Gilchrist Helps Bring Saturday in the Park Back

Sioux City’s Saturday in the Park is a beloved outdoor festival that has been rocking the area since 1991. The festival, located at Sioux City’s historical bandshell in Grandview Park has hosted top acts like Buddy Guy, Santana, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, The Black Crowes, BB King, Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge, the Avett Brothers and more, all with FREE admission. Last year the COVID-19 pandemic shut the concert down, like every other live venue in the area. Now, the music festival is back, thanks to its loyal sponsors like the Gilchrist Foundation. The Foundation awarded festival planners a $150,000 project grant to help fund this year’s festival.

The 30th and 31st annual festival will be held Friday, July 2 from 5:00 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 3, from 2 to 10:30 p.m.

Musical Lineups for Friday and Saturday

The fun begins Friday night on the main stage with AJR, WiztheMc and Ghostcat. Saturday’s main stage lineup includes Ultra Violet Fever, Danny Seraphine and CTA, Valerie June, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and headliner John Fogerty. The festival also has a second stage, the Abe stage, which will feature Richie Daggers, Heatbox, Elektric Animals, Dan Louis and headliner Face to Face on Friday. Saturday, the Abe stage kicks off with the Sioux City Conservatory of Music and is followed by Mr. Bomb, Glue, Psychedelic Sidekick, DAD, Yung Gravy, Kill OG and headliner Waka Flocka Flame.

Food, Arts and More

Along with great music, the festival also features multiple food vendors, an Arts Alley full of local shops and artists selling their crafts and a Kids Zone with activities just for the little ones. The festival caps off on Saturday night with a huge fireworks display.

There are a couple of rules that park planners will enforce this year at the park. No outside food or beverages are allowed. No pets are allowed either. Only clear bags can be carried, which includes purses, backpacks and satchels. Masks will be optional. No solicitations, guns or fireworks will be allowed in the park either.

Saturday in the Park is back and ready to again welcome Siouxlanders and loyal fans everywhere for a day of good music, food and fun. The Gilchrist Foundation is proud to be a main sponsor of Saturday in the Park.
